Raising Kanan is the prequel to the Power Universe and I had the opportunity to create the art direction for the social and digital campaign.

Inspired by the gritty hip hop era and the sounds of Ice Cube, NWA, Public Enemy and more, we focus on the third-person reflection of Kanan: Emotionally complex, compromised morally, with no real sense of right or wrong: We just are. We’re tough, we’re real, and we’re up on trends and slang as our natural being (in 1991, but also today).
